BOTOX® is onabotulinumtoxinA and is a prescription medication made by Allergan.
DYSPORT is abobotulinumtoxinA and is a prescription medication made by Galderma.
XEOMIN is incobotulinumtoxinA and is a prescription medication made by Merz.

How Do Neurotoxins Work?
Neurotoxins works by blocking nerve impulses to the injected muscles. This reduces the muscle activity that causes the formation of moderate to severe lines and wrinkles. When these muscles are relaxed, the wrinkles and lines improve and will continue to improve over time. This treatment is safe and effective when performed by an experienced and qualified healthcare professional.

Treatment for Excessive Sweating
Yes! Botulinum toxin type A has been shown to decrease sweating and excessive underarm sweating. Many patients find that they are very pleased with decreased sweating after injections during the summer months and they decide to continue the injections year round.
Treatment for Chronic Migraines
Botox became FDA approved treatment of chronic migraines in 2010.
How Does Jeaveau, Dysport, Xeomin, and Daxxify compare to Botox?
Botox is a brand name product that is well-established in the marketplace of cosmetic procedures. In fact many individuals use it similarly to how people use the terms "Bandaid" or "Vaseline" instead of bandage or petroleum jelly. They do not realize it is is one of many brands of neurotoxins. But Botox, Jeauveau, Dysport, Xeomin, and Daxxify are similar and work similarly. They all temporarily improve the appearance of wrinkles. Dysport has the most active ingredient. Xeomin has the least amount and is the only one with no preservatives. Dysport and Xeomin typically kick in slightly faster than Botox. It is unknown how quickly Daxxify takes effect but it is said to last on average six months vs three-four months like the other neurotoxins. At the time of writing this page, Daxxify officially became FDA Approved today!
Pre-Treatment Instructions/Notifications:
In order to decrease the risk of potential side effects
*There may be additional Pre/Post care recommendations/instructions that your provider may discuss with you. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask your provider.
- Do NOT consume alcoholic beverages at least hours prior to treatment (alcohol may thin the blood and increase the risk of bruising)
- Avoid anti-inflammatory/blood thinning medications, if possible for a period of 2 weeks before treatment. Medications and supplements such as aspirin, vitamin E, ginkgo biloba, ginseng, St. John’s Wort, Omega 3/Fish Oil supplements, Ibuprofen, Motrin, Advil, Aleve and other NSAIDS have a blood thinning effect and can increase the risk of bruising and swelling after injections.
- Schedule your Neurotoxin appointment at least 2 weeks prior to a special event which you may be attending, such as a wedding or a vacation. Results from Neurotoxin injections can take up to 2 weeks for full results. Also bruising and swelling may be apparent in that time period.
- Discontinue Retin-A 2 days before and 2 days after treatment.
- Reschedule your appointment at least 24 hours in advance if you have a rash, cold sore or blemish on the area(s) to be treated.
- If you have a history of cold sores please let your provider know, they may put you on an antiviral medication prior to treatment.
- Be sure to have a good breakfast, including food and drink before your procedure. This will decrease the chances of light-headedness during your treatment.
- You are not a candidate if you are pregnant, trying to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding.
- You are not a candidate if you are on Accutane or have been on Accutane for the last six months.
In order to decrease the risk of potential side effects
- Do NOT manipulate the treated area for 6 hours following treatment. Do NOT receive facials, microdermabrasions, or laser treatments after Neurotoxin injections for at least 10 days. Ask your provider if you are not sure about the time frame of certain services.
- Do NOT lie down for 6 hours after your Neurotoxin treatment. This will prevent the Neurotoxin from tracking into the orbit of your eye and causing drooping eyelid.
- It can take up to two weeks for results to be seen. If the desired result is not seen after two weeks of your treatment you may need to purchase additional Neurotoxin. You are charged for the amount of product used. Therefore, you will be charged for a product used during any touch-up or subsequent appointments.
- Do NOT perform activities involving straining, heavy lifting, or vigorous exercise for 24-48 hours after treatment. This will keep the Neurotoxin in the injected area and not elsewhere.
