While we all want to look our best for the holidays or any big event, it is best to plan aesthetic procedures well in advance. This is for a variety of reasons.  First and foremost, treatments take time to reach optimal results.  For example, Tox (Dysport, Botox, Xeomin, or Jeuveau) can take up to 2 weeks to reach full effect and may require a little touch up.  Dermal filler can take 2-4 weeks to settle.  And treatments that require the building of collagen and skin remodeling can take 3 months to start really noticing results.  Not to mention things like bruising (which can last 2 weeks in some cases), redness, and swelling can occur and will need adequate time to heal.  Even starting a new skin care routine takes time.  This is for a couple of reasons.  The first is the skin can take some time to adjust to the product.  The second is the product needs time to show a difference in your complexion. 

In a perfect world we would see our providers 1-2 weeks before a big event and be good to go.  But the reality is, depending on what your goals are, that likely is not reasonable.  Many times we have skin issues we want to address.  Sometimes we are working on wrinkles that have already settled in to our skin or pigmentation issues that are deep and stubborn.  Perhaps all of the above.  
Below is a guide to help you get ready for not just the holiday season but any big event.  And remember, if you are closer than you would like to an event, then I would recommend consulting your provider to see what is realistic for you to do to reach your goals in the time frame you have.  

9-12 MONTHS FROM EVENT

• Get a thorough skin care consult from one of our providers
• Get started or adjust your current regime as recommended
• Get started on Retinol (slowly)
• Start microneedling series
• Start Laser series
• Start sculptra if needed
• Start Hair Restoration if needed
• Make a plan for the rest of the year

3-6 MONTHS FROM EVENT

• Get Botox 6 months prior (first timer’s it’s good to see how you respond)
• Get filler or sculptra if needed
• Start microneedling or laser series 
• Start laser series
• Start doing facial ever 4-6 weeks 
• Cosmelan MD Peel if needed
• Continue daily skin care routine
• Start a lash serum such as Latisse

2-3 MONTHS FROM EVENT

• Laser follow up treatment if needed
• Microneedling follow up treatment if needed
• Get another session of sculptra (if needed)
• Continue with facials every 4-6 weeks
• Continue daily skin care routine

1-2 MONTHS FROM EVENT

• Get Botox 5 weeks prior to event (touch up two weeks later if needed)
• Laser follow up treatment if needed
• Microneedling follow up treatment if needed
• Continue with Facials every 4-6 weeks
• Start CO2 Lift masks if needed
• Continue daily skin care routine

1 MONTH - 2 WEEKS FROM EVENT

• Touch up any Tox (Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, Jeuveau)  if needed
• Laser follow up treatment if needed
• Microneedling follow up treatment if needed
• Time for one last facial
• Start CO2 Lift masks if needed
• Continue daily skin care routine

DAYS BEFORE EVENT

• Cortisone injection if needed
• CO2 Lift Mask (if your skin has had it before and had no adverse reaction)
• Continue daily skin care routine (do not add in any new products or masks!)
